It’s gonna show up on stage soon. You will recognize it easily, it has pink overalls and two pigtails. It might look or sound a bit strange but don’t worry, it is not dangerous. It only wants to speak to you, and maybe you can talk as well. It has a lot to say. But it might get stuck somewhere along the way, so wait a bit. Sitting still can be complicated, but it will for sure be worth a good laugh. OK?

Jackie is a floor acrobatics and clown solo act. It offers the funny experience of watching a weird but endearing character through a simple but complicated journey. From a shy attempt to communicate with the audience and try to tell them its name, Jackie will get distracted, bring on stage a chair to sit on, stay stuck, remember what its initial goal was, forget it again and go through a whole emotional journey within a few minutes. Making mistakes, giggling, getting frustrated, even almost crying… But one way or another, we always end up somewhere, and so does Jackie. Not only will it finally manage to share its name with the audience, this whole journey was also a way to communicate with the public and make new friends – or at least create a form of conversation.

My name is Émilie, I am Canadian and French, and I am an acrobat. I followed the preparatory program at the Regional Circus Center in Lomme-Lille and did a Bachelor at Fontys Circus and Performance Art in Tilburg, with a specialization in floor acrobatics. Tiny, emotional and passionate acro-dancer, I love words, poetry and bursting into laughter. I never do things halfway and I move as I live: with my heart. In my circus practice, I am combining flexibility and dynamic and I am searching for the different paths my body can take. On stage, I like to embody a character. My acts often have a theatrical and comedic aspect. With my piece « Jackie », I am diving deeper into a character I have been exploring and working with since a few months. Next to this, I also make pieces that are more focused on floor acrobatics, handstands or dance, and with various topics – most of the time related to personal emotions and experiences.
